It has been said that, "Without vision, the people perish."

~Proverbs 29:18 KJV

While walking down a busy street in an unnamed developing country, that statement struck me for the very first time in a completely different manner. Surprisingly, that Bible verse says nothing about food. One would think, or I would think- why doesn't it say food? Surely, all people die without food? Or do they?(...eerie Twilight Zone theme music distantly hovers in the background)
And what, here, is being suggested by exclaiming 'vision' rather than daily sustenance?

That insight...

prompted me to sit for a second and think more deeply about it. And this is what came. Well, besides making me a little bit hungry, the idea that food is simply the body's sustenance; vision is the spirit's sustenance. In short, you can have all the food in the world and still be dead. Spiritually, a dead man walking; they're everywhere. Fumbling away life like directionless zombies. Twitching animated specimens of blood, flesh and bone...too easily distracted like Pavlov's dog. Craving the next new, new thing becomes an obsession.

Who...

has time for developing and honing a vision? I mean, Apple just released a new iPhone. With this kind of vision, who needs eyes? Or for that matter, who needs a head? That said, how do I craft my own unique vision? I know I want it to be grand, innovative and creative. I know I like the colors: orange and black. I know I enjoy helping others. I know technology is a wonderful tool...and I know, "The Machines Are Coming! Ma, The Machines Are Coming!...Aghh!"
